Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q. Will participants be issued with times?

A. Participants will be set off in groups of approximately 100 riders at approximately 20 minute intervals. The first group will set off at 7.00am and the last at approximately 12.20pm. Where possible the early groups will be allocated to local riders and those who have stabled overnight.

Q. How do I book stabling?

A. Stabling forms can be downloaded from the Information for Riders and Drivers section of the website. They must be sent with payment by 31st March 2010.

Q. If I book a stable, can I use it on Saturday if I want to stay and watch racing?

A. Yes.

Q. How much of my money goes to Help for Heroes?

A. The £175 registration fee will come direct to us, the organisers, to help cover event costs. Anything else you raise over and above this figure will ALL go directly to Help for Heroes. Sponsorship payments made through Just Giving (See below) will get transferred straight into the charity’s bank account.

Q. How do I create my Just Giving account?

A. Go to www.justgiving.com and click on ‘make your page’. Once you have completed your personal details you need to indicate the charity you are raising money for, so type in ‘Help for Heroes.’ At the next stage, when the website says ‘Let us know what you are doing,’ select ‘organised event’. It will then let you choose from a few options of registered Help for Heroes events, so make sure you select ‘Horses for Heroes’.

You will then get a chance to pick your individual Just Giving page link, then everything is complete and you’re ready to go!

Q. Do I need to provide my own horse?
A. Yes

Q. I want to ride with my friends, what do I need to do to make this possible?
A. There is a section on the registration form where you can request who you would like to ride with. The Organisers will endeavour to make this possible.

Q. I’ve already registered, when will I receive my sponsorship pack?
A. Your Sponsorship pack is available on the website as a download.

Q. Where do I get more information on fundraising?
A. Sponsorship packs can be downloaded at www.horses4heroes.co.uk there is also helpful information on the Help for Heroes website www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Q. I would like to take my carriage horses on the ride, is this possible?
A. Yes, driven horses and ponies of all types are welcome. We anticipate there wil be a seperate route for horse-drawn vehicles. You must pay one Registration fee of £175 per vehicle.

Q. Are there other events being held around the country?
A. The Horses for Heroes Sponsored ride on the 10th July is the only event that we are organising, and we do encourage people to make the journey to Windsor to take part in this historic event. However if anyone would like to organise their own sponsored ride to raise money for Help for Heroes, more details about how to organise a fundraising event can be found on www.helpforheroes.org.uk.

Q. How do I get my tickets for the racing?
A. Tickets will be issued and sent to you prior to the event.
